I upgraded my gaming box a few months back when I moved away from college. I finally dropped the awesome-but-dated look of the
Guardian case and bought a black Lian-Li aluminum number. Since I only have the one hobby, I also splurged on accessories fitting a true gamer,
viz. a Logitech
G15 keyboard and
G9 gaming mouse.
The result is a system that looks very cool. Unfortunately it lacked the personal touch requisite for it to feel like it was really
my rig. Hence, I yet again commissioned
my girlfriend to draw me a design for a custom gaming mousepad.
As the erudite have gathered, the design is similar to ancient heraldic imagery. The mythical beasts of yore have been substituted with mythical beasts of
modern relevance. The cross is composed of Garand and K98 rifles in silhouette. The shield is flanked by guns
gravity and
portal, wreathed in barbed wire, and crowned by the 'Uber' helmet done up in pickelhaube style. The motto I have borrowed from the
family Shaftoe.
The mousepad itself was made by
FUNC Industries and features reversible surfaces of different roughness. The G9 performs on it flawlessly.
